I did pull the trigger on the LTE purchase, but hadn't considered the update or battery issue. I like the idea of not having to drag my phone around for a run or a walk, especially when I'm using Spotify. I'll try the LTE for however long Samsung will allow for a return. If it doesn't work out, I'll return it and purchase the Bluetooth version.

I was able to pair up galaxy watch 4 with airtel via Samsung phone (M21) (I own oneplus nord2) Here are the steps. Get frustrated by trying to pair airtel sim to watch using non samsung phone. somehow get samsung phone, connect to it (will reset the watch - allow). Dont login to google account. Try to setup to lte. Yes you can remote connect via WiFi and LTE on the Watch 5 Pro but the process is currently far from automatic. Currently it seems you need to turn off Bluetooth on the watch and possibly even manually select the WiFi network before it will remotely connect. Scroll down till you see Mobile Plans, Tap on Mobile Plans. Setup. You need to put the SIM in slot 1 and the same needs to be selected as the preferred SIM when you go under Mobile Plans. Setup. For Airtel and Reliance JIO, there will be different options altogether. Just to confirm, for Airtel you need a Postpaid SIM on your phone to enjoy 4G

So I'll explain a bit better below. The Galaxy watch and Apple watch use ESIM. Rogers is having ISSUES enabling and accepting ESIM watches on their networks since the Apple Watch 4 launched last month. With all due respect once again, go read those forums to see how many are affected with that issue.

LTE/4G are an option on certain models. The watch is primarily connected to data from your phone via LowEnergyBluetooth. If you setup the watch with a mobile plan (wearables voice line) and enable it at first setup, the LTE option on the watch is set to Auto - which means when not connected to Bluetooth (ie out of range) your watch will automatically switch to LTE/4G.

I have indeed talked to your mobile experts (as well as Samsung's), and they verify that they don't have LTE support for Samsung watches, "because we don't sell the watch, it's not a device in our computer"! I have written Xfinity's Mobile executives Mr. Greg Butz and Mr. Tom Karinshak expressing my, and other's, displeasure for this non-support.
